“G’day! My name’s Thomas, coordinator of the Southern Skies Project. I’m a space exploration enthusiast and part-time cameleer.

Are you interested in space, planetary science, and the exploration of new worlds? Perhaps you’re also wondering how to begin a study or career pathway to space?

Just a couple of years ago, I was a bit stuck. I knew that exciting things were happening in the Australian space community, and I was keen to get involved, but I wasn’t sure where to turn, or whom to ask!

The Southern Skies Project was born from a desire to spread the wonder of space exploration, and connect a new generation of Aussies with the right people, advice and opportunities to pursue their interest.

Our first initiative comprises an expedition by pack-camel across outback South Australia, investigating Mars analogue sites and other fascinating geology. Our purpose is to ignite public interest in planetary science and space exploration, and inspire young Australians to venture to new worlds.
